Thirst Project
The thirst project is an organization that helps build freshwater wells in places where water is hard to reach. Many people in Africa and other places were drinking, washing, or showering with filthy water. This water was hard to reach because people had to walk miles everyday to reach it. The water had parasites and made people sick. The thirst project was started by a group of college students who were aware of the water crisis in many places. They went to Hollywood Boulevard and gave away free water bottles to start a conversation with people about the water crisis in many places. They raised money and this started the organization.
Their solution to the water crisis is building freshwater wells in these places. Not only would it be easier to reach but it will be clean and improve people's health. The price to build freshwater wells in developing nations ranges from $7,800 in Uganda to $20,000 in Kenya. They have built wells in the South African country.
We can help by being aware of this crisis and donating to the thirst project. I saved a dollar and that is how I raised it. I thought we live in California a state that is going through a drought we have water that was easy to get anytime even though we are in a drought but other places have it a lot worse than we do. Our water is clean and most of us are healthy so why not help these people who don't have that. Without clean water we can go blind, we can have parasites living within us , and we can die. I have never experienced a situation were there is a lack of water. I wasn't asked question because it was my own dollar but I did explain the water crisis to my parents. It feels good to know that we are helping people with as little as a dollar.
